Do You Have Calluses

Layers Covering Your Heart Spirit and Soul

Calluses are hard layers of a surface caused by improper, unexpected, ill-fitted frictions repeatedly. The losing of sensitivity to a specific area due to prolonged damage. Do you have calluses on your heart, spirit, or soul?

Calluses of the Heart

The heart houses compassion, love, affection, and everything flows through the heart. When something happens that hurts or breaks the heart it leaves a scar. If you don’t heal from the pain of a broken heart and something else happens to cause more heartache it adds another layer of scar tissue. Over a period of time layers will form causing your heart to be callused and losing sensitivity. Now all the love, affection and compassion is hindered from flowing. Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (NIV)

Calluses of the Spirit

The spirit is the force behind your will. It houses your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Your spirit allows you to have insight into things unseen. When something happens to wound you spiritually like judgment, condemning, and unchristlike treatment, it scars or breaks the spirit. If you don’t heal and another incident happens to injure the same place, it builds up layers over a period of time leaving the spirit callused. A callused spirit blocks your insight and your communication with God. Job 32:8 “But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding”. (NIV)

Calluses of the Soul

The soul consists of your emotions, character, desires, and feelings. When there are repeated afflictions against these areas, it does damage to the soul. Deep wounds that leave you hardened and numb. A callused soul can affect your perception and ability to make wise decisions. Your soul gives your body life, so when callused it’s as if you stop living. Psalm 62:1 “Truly my soul find rest in God; my soul comes from him.” (NIV)

From a Spiritual Standpoint:

The 3 most important of our human nature is our heart, spirit, and soul. When you allow the wrong things in, it affects the ability to love from a pure place, your ability to hear God clearly, and the abundance of life. The word says in Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (NIV)

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father touch our heart, spirit, and soul. Remove every layer of hurt, pain, judgment, and disappointment so that all that is good can flow through. We call forth healing in every area so that we can be healthy and whole. In this, we forgive, release and let go.
